Stanbic Bank rewards 12 UPSA Communication Studies graduates for academic excellence

Stanbic Bank Ghana has honoured 12 first-class graduates from the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), for their exceptional academic performance during the University’s 2025 graduation ceremony.

The awardees received brand-new laptops and cash prizes from the Bank at the First Session of the 17th Congregation held on Friday, 26 September 2025.

The event saw 1,640 students graduate from the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies.

The award initiative, part of a broader sponsorship package by Stanbic Bank, aims to promote academic excellence and reward hard work among students in the Department of Communication Studies.

Miss Rebecca Oppong, Valedictorian and Overall Best Graduating Student from the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies, delivering her valedictory speech at First Session of the 17th Congregation of UPSA.

 

The overall best graduating student from the Department and Faculty, Ms. Rebecca Oppong, expressed her gratitude to the Bank for the recognition.

“I am so grateful to Stanbic Bank for making my graduation a memorable one. May they be blessed with more resources to continue supporting the Department and its students,” she said.

Another recipient, Ms. Precious Agbonuglah, shared her excitement and encouraged continuing students to strive for similar success.

“I urge all Level 400 students who are yet to graduate to put in more effort so they can also enjoy the generosity of Stanbic Bank,” she stated.

The Patron of the Communication Studies Students’ Association (ComSSA), Dr Justice Issah Abdulai, commended the bank for its continued support for students.

“This award will serve as motivation for others to work harder and aim higher,” he remarked.

The Head of the Department of Communication Studies, Prof Adwoa S. Amankwah, also praised Stanbic Bank for its commitment to nurturing young talent and urged further collaboration.

“The Department is open to deeper partnerships with Stanbic Ghana in areas such as internships, guest lectures, and entrepreneurship fairs,” she noted.

Stanbic Bank’s partnership with UPSA highlights the growing role of the private sector in advancing education and fostering academic excellence across Ghana’s tertiary institutions.
