Senior Alumni meet VC

  • Date September 27, 2017

Senior Alumni of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) on  Wednesday 27 September held a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor to discuss new happenings at the University and ways for the alumni to get involved.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego F.O. Amartey introduced some of the University’s newest developments such as the Student Centre, ongoing infrastructure projects, and expanding technological capabilities. One of the newest developments soon to be unveiled is the UPSA Endowment Fund, Prof. Amartey said.

The fund was created in response to a growing number of students who had to defer enrolment or completion of their programmes due to financial hardship. The fund, which is currently led by the UPSA Research Department, will raise One Million Ghana Cedis to help relieve financial pressures on students in need.

The University is not only asking the alumni to contribute to the fund but is also looking for ways to utilise the expertise and experiences of the alumni for the enrichment of current students.

The University hopes to coordinate and support a more robust Alumni Association that can unify the earlier graduating classes of former IPS with the newer classes of UPSA and harvest the talents of the many generations of graduates.

The UPSA Endowment Fund will be launched in an official ceremony on 19 October 2017.
