Second Semester Commences With Day of Prayer

The University community has welcomed the second semester of the 2018/2019 academic year with a Management Day of Prayer.

The day, set aside by the University management was an occasion for both staff and students to turn to God in prayer and seek His guidance under a spiritually-charged atmosphere of praise, worship, and thanksgiving.

The annual event which is the third in series took place last Monday, January 21, 2019, under the theme ‘Goodspeed and Elevation.’

Addressing the gathering, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey recounted some high points in the life of the university over the previous year, saying  “the Lord has been good to us and it is important we acknowledge Him for his goodness and mercies.”

Professor Amartey also commended the management, the entire teaching and administrative staff for their dedication and support in the year under review, and called for more team-spirit in the coming years.

Senior Pastor of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC)- Holy Ghost Temple, Prophet Christopher Yaw Annor who graced the day, charged the leadership of the University to put God first in all their endeavours if they are to excel as an institution.

Sharing his personal anecdote on how far God has brought him and his ICGC church which he said began in a makeshift classroom, Prophet Annor said he is hopeful UPSA will grow to become one of the most sought-after educational institutions in the world.

“Whoever put their trust in the Lord shall know no defeat because the Lord is with that person or group of people. This institution, if it continues like this, will become one of the most sought-after in the world,” he prophesied.

Touching on the relevance of living a prayer life as directed in James 5:13, Prophet Annor also observed that many Christians have fallen short of going on their knees to pray when in despair. This practice he explained is the only “course” that acts as a catalyst to getting the things we desire in life.

“Prayer brings us closer to God; and when God is with you, you don’t focus on the enemy or your detractors. You must focus on the greatness of the Almighty [God] and His assurances,” he said.

The Man of God prayed and anointed all those who attended the day of prayer.  The service also saw many miracles including healing and prophecies.
