Pupils of La Nkwantanang Basic Schools express gratitude to UPSA for continued support

Pupils from the La Nkwantanang Basic 7 & 8 Schools have expressed their appreciation to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) for the institution’s continuous support and commitment to their educational development.

Led by the heads of the two schools, the pupils conveyed their gratitude during a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, at his office on Friday, February 21.

The visit was to acknowledge the university’s contributions since adopting the two community basic schools five years ago.

The adoption, which forms part of UPSA’s corporate social responsibility, has significantly improved the schools’ learning environment, infrastructure, and academic resources and provided mentorship programs.

Addressing the pupils, Prof Mawutor urged them to pursue their dreams with determination and hard work.

He reaffirmed the university’s commitment to supporting their education despite the change in leadership at UPSA.

“We will continue to play our mentorship role in the lives of these pupils who are the leaders of tomorrow,” Prof Mawutor assured.

As part of this commitment, the Vice-Chancellor announced a special initiative to train 50 pupils in coding every year, emphasising the importance of digital literacy in today’s world.

He also charged the teaching staff to adopt creative and innovative teaching methods to help identify and nurture talented pupils.

“Education is about exposure, so the teachers must be intentional about introducing students to new ideas and opportunities,” he noted. “We as a university will use our resources and platforms to promote their talents so that the rest of the world can benefit.”

The Registrar of UPSA, Mrs. Lorraine Gyan, also encouraged the heads of the schools not to allow social settings to limit the creativity of the pupils.

She stressed that children learn best when given the freedom to explore their environment.

“Create an environment that allows the children to grow and discover their potential,” Mrs Gyan advised.

The pupils were accompanied by Madam Comfort Bissi and Mr David Koranteng, heads for Nkwantanang 7 and 8 Basic Schools.
