Dr. Kwadwo Obeng is a Chartered Accountant, a Senior Lecturer and a Vice Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance in the University of Professional Studies, Accra. He holds a Doctorate of Finance degree from the Swiss Management Centre (SMC) University and Master of Business Administration degree with specialization in Finance from Central University College.
He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) since 1992 and Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana (IIAG) since 2018.,/p>
He has a cumulative working experience of over 25 years, in both the public and private sectors as a lecturer and administrator with immense teaching experience in Financial Accounting and Cost and Management Accounting. Prior to becoming the Vice Dean he was the Head of Accounting Department of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, UPSA. He had also worked at the Ghana Heavy Equipment LTD of GNTC as the Financial Accountant and at KPMG as an Audit Senior where he developed expertise in Auditing of large as well as small companies.
He serves in several committees of the university including, Academic Board, Examination, Provident Fund, Senior Members Welfare and Graduate Board among others. In 2007 he served on both ad hoc committees formed to write and design a constitution and working documents for both senior members welfare and the provident fund of staff of the university. He is currently the chairman of the Audit committee of Medical and Dental Council.
His research interest covers internal control, debt recoveries, audit committees default risks, local government and project financing. He has again, successfully supervised several graduates and undergraduate dissertations in UPSA.
