John Yeboah Mensah joins UPSA Law School as an Assistant Lecturer. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He went ahead to acquire an MBA in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the KNUST Business School.

John worked as an intern with the African Center of International Criminal Justice (ACICJ) and the African Center on Legal Ethics (ACLE) at GIMPA Law School, where he assisted in the promotion and organization of conferences and training programs on International Criminal Law and legal ethics for young African lawyers.

After graduating from the KNUST Business School, he was awarded the Vivian Leitner Global South Scholarship to pursue a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Law and Justice at Fordham Law School in New York City.

John was appointed as a Dean’s Fellow with a joint appointment at the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice, and the Access to Justice Initiative at Fordham Law School. In this capacity as Dean’s Fellow, John worked, inter alia, on initiatives to promote access to justice in civil matters and conferences to highlight the challenges facing low-income communities in addressing civil matters. At the Leitner Center, John researched legal issues on climate change in Africa and further worked as a Teaching Assistant in International Law, Human Rights, and Corporate and Social Responsibility. John was also tasked with coordinating Fordham’s Summer Law Program in Ghana and assisted in the organization of workshops and conferences on the legal consequences of the Black Lives Matter movement in International Law and Africa.

He is currently undertaking a research at Fordham University School of Law, on the examination of traditional legal systems and institutions and their role in addressing current environmental crisis at the regional, national, and global levels.

John Yeboah Mensah's teaching and research interests lie in African customary Law, International Law, with a focus on human rights, environmental/climate change Law and policy and Law of sustainable development, as well as corporate social responsibility Law and policy.
