
Dr. John Demuyakor
John Demuyakor, (Ph. D) is currently a Lecturer at the Department of Communication Studies, University of Professional Studies, Accra, Ghana. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies from the prestigious Communication University of China, Beijing.
Since August 2008, Dr. Demuyakor has worked with numerous Non-Governmental Organizations and state institutions such as Northern Network for Education Development (NNED), Tamale Technical University, National Service Scheme, and Ghana Education Service.
While pursuing his Ph.D. he also had the opportunity to work as an Associate Consultant for China Global Television Network(CGTN), African Bureau, as well as a Research Associate at the African Media Center Institute of Community with Shared Future at the Communication University of China. Currently, he is the co-founder of Contemporary Research Africa(CRA). A consultancy hub, for providing research, information, or recommendations to clients.
Dr. Demuyakor, interest in Media, Communication, and Journalism started far back in 2004 when he had the opportunity to serve as a pioneering host and presenter of the morning show program at the then Radio FIDS at the WA campus of the University for Development Studies.
As a scholar, Dr. John Demuyakor worked tirelessly and published over 32 academic research articles in internationally recognized journals. The academic quality of his articles has resulted in over 1000 citations by authors across the globe. His articles are also abstracted and indexed in world-renowned databases such as Web of Science, Research Gate, Scopus, and Google Scholar.
The World Health Organization(WHO) 2021 adopted and recommended three(3) of his publications as part of the global literature on the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also attended and presented papers at over 17, local and international conferences.
His research focuses broadly on Journalism Studies, Communication, and Media Studies with specific focus on Social Media, Journalism Studies, Online Learning, Crisis Communication, Health Communication, New Media and Society, Emerging Technologies and Youth, Public Relations in Higher Education, New Media and Corporate Communication, Communication Research Methods, Corporate Communication Writing, Corporate Communication Workshop, Communication Theories, Teaching Communication Skills, Development Communication, Political Communication, Media Literacy, and Political Communication.
Also, Dr. Demuyakor served as the Chapter President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) in Beijing 2021/2022 academic year; 2020/2021-Academic Committee Chairman (NUGS- Beijing); 2020/2021-National Academic Committee Member, (NUGS-China); 2020/2021-Chairman, National Academic Sub-committee for Academic and Carrier Development (NUGS-China).
