Isaac Asampana is a highly motivated and results-driven academic with extensive experience as an educator, researcher, and practitioner in the field of Information Technology. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science from UCN International Programs – Austria, a Master of Science (MSc) degree from Coventry University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Information Systems (GIMPA), and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science and Physics (University of Ghana). His robust academic background underscores his dedication to advancing knowledge and fostering innovation in his field.

Dr. Asampana has made significant contributions to various high-impact projects in Ghana. Notably, he was a key member of the team that successfully designed and implemented the Public Procurement Authority’s online procurement planning systems. Additionally, he contributed to the development of the Procurement Performance Model of Excellence (PPME), a system that evaluates the performance and compliance of public entities with the Public Procurement Act (Act 663). His expertise in public procurement has been instrumental in training and assessing numerous Ghanaian procurement practitioners, ensuring their adherence to Act 663 and improving their professional capabilities.

Before transitioning to academia, Dr. Asampana served as a Data Manager at the Navrongo Health Research Centre (NHRC), where he honed his skills in data management and analysis, contributing to the Centre’s mission of advancing health research in Ghana.

Currently, Dr. Asampana is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Information Technology Studies at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). In this role, he combines his academic expertise and industry experience to educate and mentor the next generation of IT professionals. He is deeply committed to advancing research and contributing to the growth of the Information Technology discipline in Ghana and beyond.

Teaching Statement

Isaac firmly believes that fostering an effective teaching and learning environment requires a strong and collaborative relationship between faculty and students. He emphasizes the importance of creating an atmosphere where students feel supported and motivated to engage with the subject matter meaningfully. According to him, it is essential for students to not only grasp the theoretical concepts taught in class but also to understand their practical applications in solving real-world challenges.

Isaac advocates for inspiring students to see the relevance of their education beyond the classroom, encouraging them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will prepare them for professional success. Additionally, he underscores the value of teamwork in academic and professional settings. He believes students should be guided to embrace collaboration, recognizing that working effectively in teams is a crucial skill for navigating the complexities of modern workplaces and addressing multifaceted global issues.

Through his teaching philosophy, Isaac strives to create a learning environment that combines academic rigor with practical relevance, empowering students to become well-rounded, innovative, and collaborative professionals.
