Albert is an academic in Information Systems and a reverend minister in the Methodist Church Ghana. His teaching areas include Database Management Systems, Programming in Visual Basic.Net, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, and Introduction to Information Technology. His research interests are in Mobile Technologies, Business Information Systems, Distance and Online Information Technologies.

As a minister of the gospel, Rev. Akanferi has oversight responsibilities over a number of local churches. He also provides counselling services (in education, career guidance, pre-marital and marriage) both within the Methodist Church and outside.
