As part of the 2025 Chocolate Day celebrations, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. John Mawutor, spent quality time with pupils of the La-Nkwantanang Basic Schools 7 & 8 in Madina, Accra.
During the visit, Prof. Mawutor, who was accompanied by members of the university’s management team, distributed hundreds of chocolate bars to the pupils.
He also engaged them in conversations, encouraging them to stay focused on their studies and aspire to academic excellence.
The visit aimed to promote the spirit of love, kindness, and community by sharing the joy of Chocolate Day with the young learners.

Prof. Mawutor highlighted the true essence of the Chocolate Day, which coincides with the annual Valentine’s Day celebrations, urging them to celebrate it with Godly principles.
“Valentine’s Day is about expressing love,” Prof Mawutor said. “Let your expression of love be guided by purity and the desire to bring joy to others.”
For the pupils, the visit was a moment of excitement and inspiration as they took advantage of the rare opportunity to take photos with the vice-chancellor and members of the university management.

Many expressed their gratitude, highlighting how the gesture made them feel appreciated and motivated.
“The interaction not only brought smiles to our faces but also reinforced the importance of education, knowing that our future is supported by caring leaders and role models in the community,” said Peace Sackey, one of the pupils as she delivered a vote of thanks on behalf her colleagues.
The La Nkwantanang Basic 7 & 8 Schools, which were adopted by UPSA in 2020 as part of the university’s community outreach efforts, have since benefited from various forms of support and engagement aimed at improving education standards and fostering development in the area.

The headmistress of School 7, Madam Comfort Awoenam Bissi, expressed profound gratitude to UPSA for their continuous support.
She noted that the Chocolate Day celebration was yet another demonstration of the university’s unwavering commitment to the well-being and success of the pupils.

“We are truly grateful to UPSA management for always thinking about us and for ensuring that our pupils feel included in such meaningful celebrations,” she said.
