Prof. Amartey Conferred With CIMG Fellow

 

He was honoured for his immense contribution to the marketing profession and dedication to CIMG over the years.

 

The conferment was made during the institute’s 29th Presidential Ball Dinner event at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra on Saturday, December 8, 2018.

 

The Presidential Dinner Night, on the calendar of the CIMG, is the last event of the institute in a year and also serves as a platform to network and build stronger ties among members.

 

The Vice-Chancellor was one of the two personalities honoured with the coveted CIMG fellow status on the night- the highest rank in the marketing profession.

 

19 other members were granted full membership status by the CIMG, while 38 additional members attained associate membership. Another Nine (9) graduated with Digital Marketing/AITE Programme certificate, and 12 others were also recognized for a successful completion of the Diploma in Marketing course.

 

Prof. Amartey’s Professional Profile

Professor Amartey, after a successful corporate-life as a marketing professional, joined UPSA in 2006 as a lecturer at the Department of Marketing and Head of the CIM Unit. He rose quickly through the ranks to become the head of the marketing department and later as Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and Pro-vice chancellor before being appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the university in 2016.

 

Professor Amartey has over 38 publications in highly-ranked journals including the International Journal Contemporary Hospitality Management, Computers in Human Behaviour, Service Industries Journal, International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, Tourism Management Perspectives, Marketing Intelligence & Planning, Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing, African Journal of Economic and Management Studies, Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society, Journal of Direct, Data and Digital Marketing Practice, and Business Information Review.

 

His publications in the journals Computers in Human Behaviour and International Journal Contemporary Hospitality Management make him one of the few Ghanaian marketing professors who has ever published in three-star journals.

He holds a DBA in Business Administration from the SMC University of Switzerland, Master of Philosophy in Marketing, a Master of Business Administration (Marketing option) and Bachelor of Arts (Economics Major) all from the University of Ghana.

He has won a number of awards, locally and internationally including the prestigious ‘The Most Respected CEO’ in the education sector at the 2018 Ghana Industry CEO Awards, and the Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence in 2016 at Anaheim, California.
