Over 8,000 Freshmen participate in 2021 Orientation programme

  • Date January 21, 2021

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has held its 2021 Orientation programme to welcome fresh students into the University community.

In all, over 8,000 freshmen participated in this year’s pre-academic orientation programme which was held virtually as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The freshmen and women, who underwent medical tests and registration for the semester, also engaged in several other activities including residential check-in and campus tour as part of their orientation into the UPSA community.

Speaking at the online event, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Miss Ivy Heward-Mills welcomed the new members of the community, urging them to take advantage of their four-year stay in the institution to hone their skills.

Other speakers include Dr Edward Bannerman-Wood, Director of Academic Affairs, and Dr Edwin Ayernor, the Director of Information Management and Head of Educational and Instructional Technology. Dr. Ayernor welcomed the freshmen and took them through academic-related matters as well as accessing the UPSA virtual learning platform among others.

The Matriculation Ceremony, a formal ceremony to officially welcome students to UPSA, will take place on Friday, January 22, 2021 for graduate students; and Friday, February 12, 2021 for undergraduate students.
