Newly elected SRC, GRASAG leaders orientated on ethical leadership and service

Newly elected executives of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) and the Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG-UPSA) have been urged to embrace ethical leadership, teamwork, and a strong sense of service as they prepare to lead for the 2025/2026 academic year.

This was at an orientation programme organised by the Dean of Students’ Office on Monday, July 28, 2025 at the LBC Auditorium.

It brought together student leaders to equip them with the principles and expectations of responsible leadership within the university community.

Delivering the keynote address, a lecturer at the Department of Communication Studies, Dr. Richard Quashigah reminded the leaders that they have been elected to serve and not to seek personal gain.

“Don’t be individualistic. Work as a team to promote the welfare of your constituents,” Dr. Quashigah said, adding that they should be transparent in all their dealings.

Vice Dean of Students, Prof. Anthony Kumasey, spoke on the theme of ethical leadership, urging the executives to always consider the potential consequences of their actions.

“Be honest, accountable, and transparent,” he advised. “These are the ethical values we expect you to embody as student leaders.”

Prof Kumasey also charged the new leaders to prioritise the needs of their followers.

The Dean of Students, Prof. Philomena Dadzie, encouraged the leaders to uphold the values of the University and lead with decorum and integrity.

She stressed the need to promote unity and inclusion while avoiding unilateral decision-making.

She further urged them to embark on legacy projects that would “etch [your] names in the history of the University.”
