The newly sworn-in Students’ Representative Council (SRC) executives of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, to formally introduce themselves and outline the priorities of their administration. The engagement, held on Tuesday, 28 July 2026, brought together all ten newly elected executives and was led by the Dean of Students.
The meeting provided a platform for the SRC leadership to present key initiatives they intend to pursue during their tenure and reaffirm their commitment to constructive engagement with University Management in advancing student welfare, representation and campus development.
Welcoming the executives, Professor Mawutor congratulated them on their election and encouraged them to regard their respective offices as an opportunity to serve and make a meaningful contribution to the University community. He urged them to lead with dignity, integrity, respect and humility, while remaining sensitive to the diverse views, ideologies and temperaments within the student body.
The Vice-Chancellor further advised the executives to embrace inclusive leadership, dialogue and collaboration in responding to students’ needs. He shared his vision for the continued growth of the University and assured the SRC of Management’s support throughout its tenure.
Speaking on behalf of the executives, the SRC President, Mr Isaac Osafo Junior, commended Professor Mawutor for his student-centred approach to leadership, open-door policy and willingness to listen, accommodate different perspectives and address student welfare concerns with urgency.
Mr Osafo Junior also appealed to University Management to extend the scope of the Supplementary Resit Examinations for the 2025/2026 academic year to cover all outstanding failed courses of eligible final-year students, irrespective of the level at which those courses were taken. He noted that the proposed extension would provide affected students with an opportunity to clear outstanding courses and improve their prospects of graduating within the stipulated period.
The executives present were Mr Isaac Osafo Junior, President; Ms Michelle Dora Osae Poku, Vice President; Ms Victoria Owusu Amponsah, General Secretary; Mr Prince Owusu, Treasurer; Mr Fortune Kamafo, External Affairs; Ms Priscilla Alorgli-Samari, Women’s Commissioner; Ms Akushika Vicentia Agboson, Deputy Women’s Commissioner; Mr Billgate Elikplim Kuvor, Financial Controller; Mr Joshua Boateng, Auditor; and Mr Osborn Nyantakyi, Electoral Commissioner.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment by University Management and the SRC leadership to promote an inclusive and student-centred campus environment.
