New UPSA Senior Members welfare committee inaugurated

The newly elected Executive Committee of the UPSA Senior Members Welfare Association has been formally inaugurated on 9 December 2025.

The new leadership comprises:

Mr. Justice Abdulai – Chairman

Dr. Andrews Agblobi – Organiser

Mrs. Perpetua Boampong – Treasurer

Mr. John Bawelle Chang-Naah – Secretary

Dr. Amanda Quist – Member

Addressing the gathering, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Asamoah, charged the executives to uphold the core mandate of the Association by fostering the welfare and collective interests of Senior Members while advancing the broader goals of the University.

He emphasised that the work of the Committee must at all times reflect service, dedication, and a commitment to strengthening the professional and social well-being of members. He expressed profound confidence in the team’s capacity to provide effective leadership, citing their experience and professional competence. He encouraged them to work collaboratively with relevant stakeholders to resolve concerns and enhance the overall value of the welfare system.

In his acceptance remarks, the Chairman, Mr. Justice Abdulai, expressed deep appreciation to Senior Members for the confidence reposed in him and his colleagues. He acknowledged the weight of responsibility associated with the role and underscored the need for a more robust and responsive welfare system.

Mr. Abdulai highlighted key areas requiring attention, including the establishment of a dedicated Secretariat to improve administrative efficiency, a review of member contributions to ensure sustainability, and the creation of a matching support fund from the University to strengthen the Association’s ability to deliver meaningful benefits.

He stressed that welfare interventions must not be limited to post-retirement support but should provide tangible value throughout a member’s active service and beyond.
