About 4,010 fresh students registered and took the matriculation oath of UPSA on Friday, October 20, 2017, to commence the new academic year. This figure includes diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate students. The University received a little over seven thousand applications but offered admission to a total of 6, 015 applicants for the 2017/18 academic year.
The oath was administered by the University’s Registrar, Dr. Seidu Mohammed Mustapha. The matriculants pledged to abide by the regulations set forth by the administration and to strive for excellence.
The occasion was the first for the new Vice Chancellor Abednego F.O. Amartey. The VC noted that this academic years intake is the highest since the start of degree programs by the University.He congratulated the matriculants for making it out of a competitive selection process.
Vice Chancellor Amartey also gave students tips for success in their educational pursuits and encouraged them to take advantage of the many opportunities that they will find at the University such as the free tuition for professional programmes and the newly launched Vice Chancellor’s Endowment Fund to help students in financial need.
