Gabriel Abbey was crowned the overall Best Graduating Undergraduate Student at the 14th Congregation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
Gabriel studied BSc Actuarial Science and graduated with a Final Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.85, making him the valedictorian for his graduating cohort.
He was also adjudged the Best Graduating Student in Actuarial Science as well as the Best Graduating Student from both the Department of Banking and Finance, and the Faculty of Accounting and Finance.
Gabriel becomes the second student from Labone Senior High School to win the prestigious Actuarial Science student award, after Solomon Kwafo Ofori won it in 2021.
Speaking shortly after the event, Gabriel expressed delight at his award, although he says it came as a big surprise to him.
He says he owes his accomplishments to the Almighty God for bringing him this far. He also expressed gratitude to all who made his educational journey at UPSA a successful one, especially his parents, Mr Emmanuel Odenkey Abbey and Madam Vicentia Avanya.
During his undergraduate studies, Gabriel dedicated himself to working hard to achieve his dream of becoming a scholar and a professional risk consultant. He has served as a leader in church and in school.
He enjoys listening to music and has great passion for cooking. He aspires to become a Risk Analyst and he is motivated by insightful quotes from the Bible.
