FAF Organizes Seminar For Small Business Owners

  • Date March 18, 2018

The Faculty of Accounting and Finance (FAF) has organized a free seminar for small business owners dubbed, “FAF Small Business Seminar,” as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the people of the University’s catchment area.

The seminar which was attended by entrepreneurs in the clothing, hair, Information Technology solutions, and food sectors received training in financial record keeping, writing a business plan, business registration, accessing credit and tax issues.

Mr. Noble Yaotse Adonoo, Managing Partner, AKA and Partners, who was the main facilitator at the event observed that most SMEs were not keeping proper books, neither were their businesses registered, making it difficult for investors and financial institutions to grant them loans and support.

Mr. Adonoo enlightened the SME owners on how to keep proper books of record and the steps to take to register their businesses.  He urged them to get in touch with his company for the necessary support to register their businesses.

Dr. Raymond Dziwornu, Dean of the FAF, was grateful to participants for taking time off their busy schedules to attend the seminar. The Dean promised participants that the seminar would be a biannual event to build the capacity in their businesses and encouraged them to be part of it.

He further assured participants that students from the Faculty would be sent to intern with them to support them to develop their businesses. Certificates of participation were awarded to all participants.
