Call for Applications for Registry Appointments
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates for appointments into the following positions:
1. ASSISTANT REGISTRAR
Qualification:
Candidate must have a good first degree and either Master’s degree in Administration/ Social Science or an equivalent professional qualification with a minimum of four (4) years post qualification experience in a Tertiary education institution.
Skills Required:
Successful candidate must have the following attributes:
- Good writing and communication skills
- Good analytical skills
- Good human relations skills
- High sense of integrity
- Ability to work to tight schedules
- Computer literacy
Responsibilities:
Successful candidate must perform the following responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the Registrar of the University
- Assist in the implementation of decisions and policies of the University
- Contribute to the general operations of the Registry
- Assist in the development of high-quality records management systems for the University
- Serve as Secretary to Committees
2. JUNIOR ASSISTANT REGISTRAR
Qualification:
Candidate must have a good first degree and either a Master’s degree in Administration/Social Science or an equivalent Professional qualification.
Skills required and responsibilities are the same as in Assistant Registrar.
3. SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree awarded by a recognized University.
Skills: Must be computer literate
Attributes: Must demonstrate exhibition of sound and mature judgment, a high sense of responsibility, initiative and discretion.
Other Requirements: Must be confirmed officer with at least 2 years continuous service as Administrative Assistant; Or Tertiary diploma holder with at least 4 years’ post qualification relevant working experience in an analogous institution.
Responsibilities: Duties will mainly be of an executive nature involving investigation of matters of complexity, interpreting rules and regulations governing work and the execution of specific assignments. Supervision and checking of the work of subordinate staff; maintenance of discipline. Covering meetings, typing and submitting of reports etc.
4. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Qualification: Candidate must have a Tertiary Diploma awarded by a recognized university.
Skills: Candidate must be computer literate
Responsibilities: Candidate must be able to take general decisions and initiation of action on cases.
Much of the work will be of an executive nature, involving the examination of cases either within or outside the scope of approved regulations, supervision and checking of the work of junior staff. May also be assigned the responsibility of covering meetings, typing reports and minutes of meetings, etc.
Key Responsibilities: To be determined by the Head of Department/Unit or his/her Representative
5. TRANSPORT STAFF
Driver Mechanic Grade II
Qualifications:
Must possess at least a valid Driver’s License D; having at least the BECE Certificate will be an advantage plus accident free record for at least 5 years.
Other Requirements:
Knowledge of mechanics with certification will be an advantage.
Not less than 25 years and must be medically certified to be fit to drive.
Responsibilities:
Will be responsible for driving University vehicles and such other duties as may be assigned by the Transport Officer.
6. ELECTRICIAN
Qualification:
- Must possess SSSCE/WASSCE with six passes in subjects including English Language, Mathematics and relevant technical subjects.
- In addition, the candidate must have a certificate/diploma from NVTI or a recognised institution, plus at least two years working experience.
7. ARTISANS (PLUMBERS)
Qualification:
Must be holders of the Intermediate Craft Certificate of the Technical Education Unit of GES or its equivalent, plus two years’ working experience Or Must possess the National Craftsman Certificate in the relevant area with two years’ experience.
