Call for Applications: Faculty Development Scholarships for Young Lecturers
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), as part of its strategic objective to promote academic excellence and build a world-class faculty, is pleased to announce the availability of scholarship opportunities for young faculty students and Alumni of the University seeking to pursue advanced degrees and professional development programmes.
These scholarships are intended to support UPSA graduates and early-career lecturers to undertake, postgraduate (MPhil/PhD) programmes in UPSA.
Objective of the Scholarship
The initiative aims to:
• Build a database of highly qualified academic staff across all faculties.
• Promote specialization in strategic and emerging academic areas (e.g., Law, Artificial Intelligence, Accounting Finance, Digital Business, Public Policy).
• Strengthen research capacity and enhance UPSA’s global academic competitiveness.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
• Be a final-year student, Alumni, Graduate Assistant or Teaching Assistant at UPSA.
• Be not more than 35 years of age at the time of application.
• Have completed at least one year of continuous service with the University (Advantage).
• Possess a strong academic record and demonstrate potential for academic excellence.
• Be admitted (or in the process of applying) to a recognized postgraduate programme (PhD, MPhil, or specialized certification).
• Be committed to contribute towards teaching, research, and service to UPSA upon completion of the programme.
Scholarship Coverage
Depending on the availability of funds and the programme pursued, the scholarship may cover:
• Tuition and academic fees
• Research and thesis support

Application Requirements
Interested applicants must submit the following:
1. A formal letter of application addressed to the Vice-Chancellor
2. Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV)
3. Copies of academic transcripts and certificates
4. Statement of purpose outlining academic goals and its relevance to UPSA’s development
5. Proof of admission (or evidence of application) to a recognized academic institution
6. A letter of recommendation from the applicant’s Head of Department

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by the Faculty Development Committee. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview. Selection will be based on merit, strategic relevance, and alignment with UPSA’s academic development agenda.
