
Prof. Emmanuel Selase Asamoah is an Associate Professor of Management and the Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA). He is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana and continues to maintain an active legal practice. He is a distinguished researcher and academic with a strong passion for practice-oriented research. He has over 50 scholarly publications, including peer-reviewed journal articles, international conference papers, and two authored books. He has consulted for several public and private sector organizations in Ghana and beyond, particularly in areas of management research, cost optimization and value generation and legal due diligence. Prof. Asamoah has presented papers at major conferences in Africa, Asia, and Europe and serves as a Visiting Lecturer and Doctoral Study Consultant at Tomas Bata University, Zlín. At UPSA, he lectures courses and supervises students’ thesis at the Masters and Doctoral level.
He is a proud recipient of the 2020 Czech National Agency for International Education and Research (DZS) Awards for the ‘Study in the Czech Republic- International Alumni Award 2020.
He is also a member of the Governing Board of Nobel International Business School (NIBS) Accra and the International Board of Tomas Bata University in Zlin (TBU).
Until his appointment as Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Asamoah served as the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies, where he provided strategic leadership in advancing teaching, research, and innovation in the faculty. He was instrumental in the development of new programmes for the faculty. Prior to this, he also served as the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies and the Head of the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Management Studies.
Prof. Asamoah holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics and Management from Tomas Bata University in Zlín, Czech Republic, and a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Management and Economics from the University of Economics, Prague, majoring in International Business with a minor in Business Practices. He also earned a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and a Master of Laws (LLM) in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He further received a Qualifying Certificate in Law from the Ghana School of Law. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Galilee International Management Institute in Israel, where he earned a Diploma in Management of Higher Education Institutes.
He worked as a national consultant for International Trade Centre of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Volta River Authority (VRA) among others on various projects such as Mapping of Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D) for Ghana, Integrated Study on Climate Security Threats in Ghana Including Gaps and Opportunities For Green-Value Chain(s) For Women and Youth Led Businesses in Selected Hotspot Districts, Private sector investment opportunities and risks linked with Ghana’s GCF country programming and climate change priorities as well as Design Thinking and Creativity among others.
Prof. Asamoah received grants to conduct studies into Human Rights enforcement in developing and developed countries and reduction of inequality and poverty, Economic Rights and Economic Inequalities in Developing Economies, Brand as a dominant factor in determining the competitiveness of companies and Strategic brand building for the competitiveness of SMEs in the global market place.
His research interests focus on the application of economics principles in Management and Marketing. It covers Strategic management and the firm’s competitiveness, Market structures and the firms’ competitiveness, Entrepreneurship Development, Green Business and Green Value Chain, Competitive Strategy, Competitiveness and economic development, Clusters and Competitiveness. He has worked in diverse capacities across Ghana and abroad in industries such as insurance, education, project management, marketing, outsourcing, and logistics.
He is passionate about youth development and has mentored multiple youths to attain high level positions both nationally and internationally. He has a passion for Artificial Intelligence (AI) and spends his down-time either conducting research on AI or practicing his application of AI. He also enjoys listening to music and taking long walks. He also enjoys spending time with his children.
