Automation of Academic Deferment Processes

NOTICE

AUTOMATION OF PROCESSES FOR DEFERMENT AND RESUMPTION OF ACADEMIC WORK

This is to inform all students that approval has been granted for the deployment of the automation of request for deferment and resumption of academic work processes. Accordingly, students who wish to request such services must follow the new procedures below:

Request for Deferment
1. Log into your USIS student portal with your index number and password.
2. Click on “my portal”
3. Click on “defer programme”.
4. Complete the form and submit it.

Once deferment is approved, a confirmation letter will be sent to your upsamail confirming your deferment and resumption date.

Resumption of Academic Work
1. Log into your student portal with your index number and password.
2. Click on “my portal”
3. Click on “resume programme”.
4. Complete the form and submit.

Once resumption is approved, a confirmation letter will be sent to your upsamail. Please follow
the instructions in the letter.

Please note that the start date for the implementation of the new procedure is the first semester- 2023/2024 academic year for students who wish to defer their programme in the current academic year.

Also, note that deferment and resumption requests are subject to approval and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We encourage you to submit your deferment and resumption application with complete and accurate information to ensure a timely review and response process.
