UPSA deepens relationship with the media

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Tuesday organised a press soiree to deepen its relationship with the Ghanaian media and foster strategic partnerships with key partners and stakeholders.

The media engagement, dubbed “an Evening with the Vice Chancellor,” brought together seasoned journalists, news editors, and media managers from the print, broadcast, and digital platforms.

“The essence of this evening’s gathering is the opportunity to interact, break bread, and share a meaningful connection [while] bringing you up to speed with some of the exciting initiatives we are taking here at UPSA,” the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. Abednego F. O. Amartey, told the media guests.

He commended the media for its watchdog role and unflinching support for the University over the years, saying, “We desire a stronger bond and a meaningful partnership with you.”

“We are grateful for your support in the past years, and we want that relationship to be a reciprocal one. While we ask that you continue to help us in telling our story, we also wish to positively impact your organisations.”

He added: “We are open to discussing how our offerings can add value to your human capital so that together, we can win. At UPSA, we see very bright prospects, and we expect to see you, our media partners, achieving even greater heights.”

The Vice-Chancellor further stated that UPSA is home to a large, diverse, and academically talented student body and also to a community of outstanding faculty whose superb teaching, scholarship, and creativity contribute to the university’s reputation for excellence.

“We are also home to a campus and hostels that extend our reach and contribute enormously to the social, cultural, and economic life of our host community. You each play a key, pivotal role in Ghana’s growth and development.

“We thus want to make our experts available to you to bring rich perspectives that stem from a blend of advanced research, years of vast industry experience, and thought leadership to enrich the socio-economic and geo-political discourse for national development.”

The Managing Director of Graphic Communications Group Limited, Mr Ato Afful, lauded the management of UPSA for its deliberate efforts in positioning the University as one of the foremost business schools within the West African subregion.

Mr Afful urged the media to offer its continuous support to the UPSA and be responsive to the potential partnership opportunities being offered by the UPSA.

He stressed that UPSA and Graphic have developed a good relationship over the years, and he was hopeful that the partnership would be further deepened through meaningful engagement for mutual benefit.

The Vice-Chancellor’s engagement with the media was graced by some high-profile personalities, including the CEO of the Media General Group, Mrs Beatrice Agyemang Abbey; the General Manager of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Albert Kofi Owusu; Peace FM’s Morning Show host, Kwami Sefa Kayi; and the Chief News Editor of the Daily Guide newspaper, Alhaji A.
