The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Chapter of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA-UPSA) has inaugurated a new team of executives to lead the association for the next two years. The handing-over ceremony, held on Thursday, 30 July 2026, brought members together to mark the orderly transition of leadership and reaffirm the association’s commitment to professional development and members’ welfare.
The GAUA-UPSA Electoral Commissioner, Mr Samuel Mensah, administered the oath of office to the newly elected executives.
In his farewell address, the outgoing President, Mr William Kuusori, expressed appreciation to members for the confidence placed in him and the opportunity to serve the association. He described his tenure as an enriching experience that broadened his knowledge and strengthened his professional network.
“Leading this association over the past two years has helped me learn a lot and also given me the opportunity to expand my network,” Mr Kuusori said.
He urged the incoming executives to strengthen their negotiation and engagement skills, particularly when addressing matters concerning members’ welfare and conditions of service. He noted that sustained dialogue with University Management and the national leadership of GAUA remained essential to advancing members’ interests and achieving enduring outcomes.
The new executive team comprises Dr Aaron Clifford Adu, President; Mr Ebenezer Asiedu, Vice-President; Mr John Bawelle Chang-Naah, Secretary; Ms Joanna Mensah-Ankrah, Assistant Secretary; Ms Abigail Amoako-Atta Snr, Treasurer; Mr Ernest Kwaku Peters, Organising Secretary; and Mrs Leticia Ayana-Gagakuma, Public Relations Officer.
Delivering his acceptance address, Dr Adu thanked members for entrusting the leadership of the association to him and his colleagues. He pledged to operate an inclusive and accessible administration while encouraging members to contribute ideas that would strengthen the association.
“We are open to ideas that will strengthen the association, and our doors will always remain open to every member,” he said.
Dr Adu also called for unity and collective responsibility, urging members to set aside their differences and work together to promote their welfare and advance the association’s shared interests.
The ceremony also featured an update on preparations for the GAUA National Congress, scheduled for 6 August 2026.
