The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), through its 60th Anniversary Planning Committee, on Thursday, 16 April 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Head Office of GCB Bank PLC to formally engage the bank on the University’s anniversary activities and invite its leadership to participate in the upcoming celebrations.
The delegation was led by the Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee and President of the UPSA Global Alumni Association, Mr Francis Dadzie, who underscored the significance of the University’s 60th anniversary and the importance of strategic corporate participation in the commemorative programme. He drew particular attention to the forthcoming Ghana Business Leaders’ Conclave, scheduled for 15 May 2026, describing it as a major highlight of the UPSA@60 celebrations and an important platform for reflection on leadership, enterprise and national development.

Mr Dadzie noted that the conclave, to be hosted by His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, an esteemed alumnus of the University, represents a defining moment in the anniversary calendar. He explained that the event offers a valuable opportunity for industry leaders and institutional partners to identify with a milestone that reflects UPSA’s growth, relevance and contribution to human capital development in Ghana. He therefore encouraged GCB Bank PLC to actively participate in the event and consider supporting the broader anniversary activities.
Receiving the delegation, the Managing Director of GCB Bank PLC, Mr Farihan Alhassan, expressed appreciation for the visit and commended UPSA for its remarkable transformation and enduring impact over the years. He indicated that the bank would review the University’s proposal and engage further on areas where meaningful support and collaboration could be explored.

Beyond the anniversary celebrations, discussions also touched on opportunities for broader institutional cooperation, including improved access to banking services on campus through the possible installation of an ATM and a stronger banking presence to serve the University community.
Other members of the UPSA delegation included Dr Leticia Akyeampong and Dr. Mrs. Juliana Akushika Andoh. The visit forms part of the University’s ongoing efforts to deepen relationships with key stakeholders and secure partnerships that will add lasting value to the UPSA@60 celebrations and beyond.
