UPSA Department of Accounting Students’ Association Pays Courtesy Visit to Vice-Chancellor

The Department of Accounting Students’ Association (DASA) has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor. The visit, held on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, reflected the strong bond between student leadership and University management.

The visit, led by the Association’s President, Ampofo-Twumasi Joseph Agyapong, served not only as a formal engagement with university leadership but also as an opportunity to honour the Vice-Chancellor with departmental souvenirs in recognition of his affiliation with the Department of Accounting.

The interaction reflected a strong culture of collegiality and mutual respect within the University, as the DASA leadership acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor’s longstanding connection to the academic discipline that continues to shape future professionals in accounting and finance. The presentation of souvenirs symbolised both appreciation and a reaffirmation of shared values between faculty leadership and the student body.

In his address, Prof. Mawutor expressed his gratitude to the executives for the thoughtful gesture and commended the Association for its proactive leadership. He used the occasion to challenge students to position themselves strategically in an increasingly digital and competitive global environment. Emphasising the transformative role of technology, he urged students to equip themselves with relevant IT competencies that would enhance their professional relevance and adaptability.

The Vice-Chancellor further reiterated his vision of transforming UPSA into a fully indigenous and self-sustaining academic institution, one that leverages local capacity, innovation, and intellectual capital to drive national and continental development. He stressed that such a vision requires a new generation of graduates who are not only academically sound but also creative, innovative, and solution-oriented.

Addressing the student leaders directly, Prof. Mawutor underscored the responsibility that comes with leadership, urging them to move beyond titles and actively contribute to solving real-world problems within and beyond the University community. He encouraged them to cultivate a mindset that prioritises impact, collaboration, and forward-thinking initiatives.

The engagement stands as a testament to UPSA’s vibrant academic community, where dialogue between students and leadership continues to shape a progressive and responsive university environment.
