The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the university’s outgoing National Service personnel for their dedicated service over the past year.
Speaking at a farewell meeting on Thursday, September 4, 2025, Prof. Mawutor commended the personnel for their commitment and professionalism, noting that some had distinguished themselves exceptionally during their service.
“We appreciate your hard work and contributions to the University’s growth. I am told some of you did exceptionally well during your service, and on behalf of management, I thank you sincerely,” he said.
The Vice-Chancellor revealed that UPSA will consider some of the personnel for future employment opportunities once the institution secures financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance.

In the meantime, he announced that the outgoing personnel will be integrated into the team of invigilators deployed during examinations to keep them temporarily engaged.
Prof. Mawutor also urged them to pursue postgraduate studies and other professional development opportunities.
“As you move on to the next chapter of your lives, I pray that you excel in everything you do,” he added.

Registrar of UPSA, Mrs Lorraine Gyan, advised the personnel not to restrict themselves to their specific fields of study but to embrace flexibility in the dynamic world of work.
She stressed that graduates are sometimes assigned to roles outside their areas of specialisation, and such experiences can open new doors for career growth.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer (RIKT), Prof. Samuel Antwi, urged the outgoing service personnel to leverage the networks and relationships they have built during their service period.

Other speakers, including Dr. Edward Bannerman-Wood, Director of Administration; Rev. Dr. Stephen Acheampong, Director of Counselling; and Rev. Theophilus Tetteh, Director of Industry Relations, encouraged the personnel to remain focused, adaptable, and optimistic as they transition into the next phase of their careers.
The outgoing service personnel, in turn, shared their experiences and expressed gratitude to the UPSA Management for the opportunity to serve and grow within the University environment.
