New adjunct lecturers undergo orientation to uphold UPSA’s values and standards

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has organised an orientation programme to formally induct newly appointed adjunct lecturers into the institution’s academic community for the 2025/26 academic year.

Welcoming the new faculty, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kwaku Mensah Mawutor congratulated them on their appointments and underscored their importance to UPSA’s academic ecosystem and their contribution to the institution’s growth.

He charged them to uphold the values and standards of the university, stressing that those who distinguish themselves in their roles stand a chance of being appointed as full-time lecturers when the University secures financial clearance.

Prof. Mawutor further urged the lecturers to strictly enforce the University’s professional dress code. He noted that the enforcement of the policy is central to instilling discipline and decency among students.

The Vice-Chancellor also announced that a committee would soon be inaugurated to review academic programmes in order to align them with modern teaching and learning trends.

For his part, the Pro Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer, Prof. Samuel Antwi, welcomed the new lecturers into the UPSA family and encouraged them to use official communication channels to resolve any grievances.

Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Emmanuel Selase Asamoah, urged the lecturers to quickly familiarise themselves with the University’s ethos, stressing the importance of classroom management, ethics, morality, and professionalism.

He highlighted the University’s zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment and admonished the adjunct faculty to conduct themselves with utmost integrity in their interactions with students.

Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Anthony Afeadie, guided participants through the academic journey at UPSA, covering registration processes, teaching practices, assessments, the marking process, and the publication of results.

The orientation programme, which marked the beginning of the 2025/26 academic year, was attended by deans, heads of department, and other senior members of faculty, who also touched on issues of punctuality, course allocation, remuneration, and other expectations.
