The Dean of the UPSA Law School, Professor Ernest Kofi Abotsi, has been appointed by President John Dramani Mahama as the new Chairman of the Governing Council of Accra Technical University (ATU).
The appointment was formally announced at a brief swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, July 22.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, charged the newly constituted Council to prioritize technical and vocational education as the core focus of the institution.
The Minister described Professor Abotsi as a capable and visionary leader and expressed confidence in his ability to provide strategic direction for the University during what he termed a critical period in its development.
Mr. Iddrisu also urged the Council to expedite efforts to complete stalled infrastructure projects and to renew the University’s commitment to hands-on, skills-based learning.
