ComSSA-UPSA triumphs in World PR Day Quiz Competition

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has emerged winner of the 2025 Inter-University Public Relations Quiz Competition held as part of activities marking this year’s World PR Day.

The event, hosted at the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UNIMAC) on Tuesday, July 16, 2025, brought together student representatives from leading communication institutions across the country.

In a thrilling finale, the UPSA team beat fierce competition from UNIMAC and Wisconsin International University College to lift the coveted trophy.

UPSA secured 50 points, narrowly edging past UNIMAC with 47 points, while Wisconsin finished with 37 points.

The victory was powered by the collaborative efforts of Nicholas Sarpong and Fritz Torto, both student members of the Communication Studies Students Association (ComSSA).

To formally present the trophy, the leadership of ComSSA, led by the Head of the Department of Communication Studies, Prof Adwoa Sikayena Amankwah, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, on Friday.

The delegation also included Dr Justice Issah Abdulai, Patron of ComSSA, and Mr Godwin Kusi Danquah, Deputy Patron.

Prof Mawutor commended the team for their outstanding performance and for bringing honour to the university.

“This victory is a testament to the academic excellence, dedication, and talent of our students. You have lifted the name of UPSA and projected our institution on a national stage,” he remarked.

The Inter-University PR Quiz Competition forms part of a broader effort to promote public relations practice among students and to commemorate World PR Day, which is celebrated annually on July 16.
