Hundreds of students register for UPSA-MTN Digital Skills Training Programme

Hundreds of first-year students at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) have registered to take part in a transformative Digital Skills Training Programme, jointly organised by UPSA and the MTN Ghana Foundation.

The initiative, which forms part of the Vice-Chancellor’s Digital Skills Programme, is aimed at equipping all students with essential digital competencies needed for today’s tech-driven world.

Training areas include coding, data analytics, cloud computing, data science, data literacy, and job interview skills.

The carefully selected online courses are intended to position students for success in both academic and professional environments.

The two-day registration, which ended on Thursday, July 17, saw an overwhelming response from students.

Officials from the MTN Foundation expressed satisfaction with the high level of interest and commended UPSA for its strong commitment to digital empowerment.

Project facilitator and Head of the Department of Business Administration, Dr. Ummu Markwei, emphasised the importance of the initiative.

“As a university, this move reflects the seriousness we attach to digital education,” she said. “We want every student to benefit from this vital programme which aligns with the demands of the modern workplace.”

She added that the UPSA-MTN partnership underscores the university’s commitment to delivering holistic education that extends beyond traditional classroom learning by integrating relevant skills that prepare students for the digital economy.
