UPSA, Pecan Energies partner to award scholarships to outstanding students

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and Pecan Energies have formalised a strategic partnership to support brilliant but underprivileged students with full scholarships.

The agreement was sealed on Monday, July 7, 2025, through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions.

Under the partnership, beneficiaries of the scholarship package will receive full tuition and hostel fees, a semester’s stipend, a laptop, and access to a student development programme that includes career guidance, mentorship, and skills training.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Emmanuel Annor Appiah, Corporate Social Responsibility Supervisor at Pecan Energies, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to transforming lives through education.

He stressed that over the past five years, Pecan Energies has supported over 160 tertiary students through the Pecan Inspire Scholarship Programme.

He added that the company was also excited to partner with UPSA, which he described as one of the leading business institutions in Ghana and the subregion.

“UPSA is known for training professionals, and we are excited to be associated with you to train the next generation of global business leaders,” Mr Appiah noted.

Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, commended Pecan Energies for the partnership, describing the initiative as a laudable example of the kind of support expected from corporate Ghana.

He added that the scholarship aligns with UPSA’s mission of providing accessible, quality education and nurturing future leaders who are academically grounded and socially responsible.

Present at the meeting were Ms Emmanuella Amponsah and Mr Derrick Norshie from Pecan Energy’s CSR Unit.
