The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has announced the promotion of eight distinguished senior lecturers to the rank of Associate Professors.
The promotions were approved at the 95th Regular Meeting of the UPSA Governing Council held on Friday, May 23, 2025.
This recognition highlights the university’s dedication to academic excellence and its appreciation of the contributions of faculty in teaching, research, and service.
Among the newly promoted faculty is Dr. John K. Amoh, Head of the Department of Accounting, who has been elevated to Associate Professor in Accounting. Dr. James Ntiamoah Doku of the Department of Banking and Finance has also been promoted to Associate Professor in Finance.
Dr. Edward Attah-Botchwey, the current Vice Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, is now an Associate Professor in Finance, alongside Dr. Gladys Awinpoak Abindaw Nabieu, also of the Department of Banking and Finance.
From the Faculty of Management Studies, Dr. Fred Doe, Director of the Otumfuo Centre for Traditional Leadership, has been promoted to Associate Professor in Management. His colleague, Dr. Anthony Kumasey, who serves as the Vice Dean of Students, has also been named Associate Professor in Management.
In the Faculty of IT and Communication Studies, Dr. Godfred Yaw Koi-Akrofi, the Dean of the Faculty, has been promoted to Associate Professor in Information Systems.
Similarly, Dr. Adwoa Sikayena Amankwah, Head of the Department of Communication Studies, has attained the rank of Associate Professor in Communication.
The management of UPSA, in a circular signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Lorraine Gyan, congratulated the newly promoted academics on achieving a significant milestone and commended them for their dedication, leadership, and scholarly achievements.
