The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, has met with executives of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) and the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON).
The engagement formed part of efforts to strengthen relationships with student leaders and align them with the University’s broader vision.
The meeting on Friday, April 17 sought to touch base with the political student leadership and foster a spirit of cooperation among them.
Prof Mawutor encouraged the leaders of TEIN and TESCON to collaborate rather than compete.

“Politics is about trading ideas and not making enemies,” Prof Mawutor said. “I urge you to build bridges, not walls. Let your differences be platforms for learning, not division.”
He also announced plans to introduce scholarship opportunities for students who aspire to become lecturers, a move he said would ensure continuity in the UPSA academic tradition.
“This initiative is intended to nurture promising students who have been trained by UPSA to take up the mantle and continue our legacy of academic excellence,” the VC explained.
Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Prof Isaac Boadi, advised the students to use their platforms to project the image of the University positively.
“You are ambassadors of UPSA,” he said. “Let your actions and engagements reflect the values and vision of this institution.”
The interaction concluded with a renewed commitment from both student groups to promote unity and academic development on campus, as UPSA continues to position itself as a leader in higher education in Ghana.
