UPSA VC engages Management of Access Bank to strengthen collaboration

The UPSA Vice Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, has met with the Management of Access Bank Ghana to outline his vision for the university and provide insight into his immediate strategic initiatives for 2025.

A key focus of the meeting on Wednesday was UPSA’s groundbreaking Faculty Textbook Initiative, which Professor Mawutor highlighted as a top priority for the 2024/2025 academic year.

“We are empowering our faculty to develop textbooks that reflect both local and global outlooks and case studies to provide our students with high-quality yet affordable resources,” Professor Mawutor said.

“Surely, this would enrich the teaching and learning experience of our faculty and students and reduce their reliance on expensive external learning materials.”

He appealed to the Managing Director for the bank’s assistance in making the textbooks initiative a reality.

The Vice-Chancellor also emphasised the need for more collaborative partnerships to advance the University’s mission.

In his response, the Managing Director of Access Bank Ghana, Mr. Olumide Olatunji, expressed the bank’s total support for UPSA’s vision and the faculty-authored textbook initiative.

“We are committed to supporting the University, its staff, and students in achieving their academic goals,” Mr. Olatunji said.

“Access Bank is ready to partner with the new leadership team at UPSA, providing the necessary resources and guidance to help them realise this and other important initiatives.”
