Fifty-four employees of Asante Gold Corporation Limited (AGCL) have successfully completed the Ordinary Certificate in Supervisory Management training program, organised by the Institute of Work, Employment, and Society (IWES) of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
The graduation ceremony was held on Friday, 17th October 2025, at Bibiani in the Western North Region.
The professional training formed part of UPSA’s ongoing commitment to bridging academia and industry through practical, career-focused education.
Participants drawn from AGCL’s four operational sites—Chirano, Bibiani, Kubi, and the Corporate Office in Accra—came together to build their skills in leadership, supervision, and effective team management.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, commended the graduating employees for their hard work and dedication, describing them as “emerging leaders ready to drive innovation and operational excellence.”
He also lauded Asante Gold Corporation for its sustained investment in staff development, noting that the initiative demonstrates the company’s forward-thinking approach to workforce transformation.
“Through this collaboration, Asante Gold is building a workforce that is adaptable, innovative, and equipped to meet the challenges of a dynamic and competitive business environment,” Prof. Mawutor stated.

“This partnership also exemplifies the power of academia–industry cooperation in strengthening organizational growth and sustainability,” he added.
Mr. Lawrence Obeng Mensah was adjudged the Overall Best Participant for his initiative, integrity, and commitment to continuous improvement—qualities that, according to facilitators, inspired his colleagues throughout the programme.
Six other graduates were also honoured for their outstanding performances throughout the training program.

The Supervisory Management Programme, one of IWES’s flagship initiatives, continues to promote professional development by empowering employees across industries with the knowledge and mindset required to excel in leadership roles.
Dignitaries present at the ceremony included Mrs Lorraine Gyan, Registrar of UPSA; Mr Anthony Afeadie, Director of Academic Affairs; and Mrs Erika Mamley Osae, Acting Director of IWES.

Representing AGCL were Mr. Dave Anthony, Group Chief Executive Officer; Ing. Stephen Asante Yamoah and Ing. Samuel Kwasi Takyi, both General Managers for Chirano; and Ms Janet Yaa Ofosuhemaa Asomaning, Regional Human Resource Manager.
