The Graduate Students’ Association of Ghana (GRASAG) and the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Professional Studies, Accra have donated toiletries and sanitizers to the Management of the University.

The donation, estimated at about sixty-five thousand Ghana cedis (Gh¢65,000), is in support of Management’s effort to combat the spread of the Coronavirus on campus.

The items donated included 150 gallons of 5-litre sanitizers, 175 gallons of 5-litre hand washing detergents and 400 packs of paper towels and toilet rolls. It also included 20 pieces of soap and hand sanitizing dispensers as well as 15 paper towel dispensers.

Presenting the items at a brief ceremony held in the Registrar’s office, Mr. Daniel Opoku-Agyemang, Chairman of GRASAG, UPSA, said as students, there was the need to protect themselves from the deadly virus hence the need to support the university’s anti-covid efforts with the hygiene products.

The Registrar, Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright who received the items on behalf of the institution, commended the two students’ groups for the kind gesture and for their sense of leadership.

She said the items will go a long way to complement Management’s efforts at keeping members of the community safe especially around this time when the country is recording an upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the SRC, Prince Wade Nartey called on the students to make judicious use of the items which he says would be positioned at vantage points on campus.

Meanwhile, executives of the two students’ groups have embarked on a sensitisation programme to educate members on the need to wear masks at all times and to maintain social distancing on campus as part of a renewed campaign to contain the spread of COVID-19.
