Members of the fundraising committee of the Vice-Chancellor’s Endowment Fund (VCEF) have paid a courtesy call on the recently-appointed Registrar of UPSA, Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright at her office.
The delegation was led by the chairman, Dr Albert Martins.
According to him, the visit was to welcome the Registrar to her new position and discuss innovative ways of raising funds to finance the activities of the VCEF, which has become an essential vehicle through which brilliant-but-financially-challenged students are granted scholarships at UPSA.
Dr. Martins said the Fund has awarded over 50 scholarships to students pursuing various programmes at different levels of education in the university.
He said the committee is hopeful of offering full-tuition scholarships to 55 individuals in the next academic year to commemorate the university’s 55th anniversary.
Dr Anim-Wright, in welcoming the team to her office, commended them for their selflessness and commitment to helping to realise the vision of the Vice-Chancellor to make education accessible to even the needy.
She urged them to be ingenious with their efforts to attract corporate and individual sponsorships to the fund.
She noted that although the COVID-19 pandemic has brought untold hardship to the corporate world, entities with smart and innovative ideas are still likely to receive the needed support.
Members of the delegation also included Dr. Edward Attah-Botchway (vice-chair), Mr. Samuel Seshie (treasurer), Mr Kafui Agormeda-Tetteh (secretary), Mr. Jojo Agyeman-Wettey, Elikem Benedicta Denu and Timothy Zilevu.
