The Saint Thomas Aquinas Old Boys Association (OT) has honoured two of its members for their meritorious achievements and excellence in the fields of education in this country. They are Professor John Owusu Gyapong, Vice Chancellor of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), and Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University for Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
The Governing Council of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) has appointed Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey as the new Vice Chancellor of the university for a four-year term with effect from January 1, 2017.
A release issued in Accra and signed by the Registrar, Dr Seidu Mohammed Mustapha, said the appointment was made at a special meeting of the University’sGoverning Council held on August 25, 2016 after the Council had received a report from the seven-member Search Committee which unanimously recommended him for the position.
Prof. Abednego Okoe takes over from the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Alabi, whose tenure of office comes to an end on December 31, 2016.
Prof. Okoe is the sitting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University. Prior to that appointment, he served as the Dean of Faculty of Management Studies from 2014-2016, Head of Department for Marketing Department for two consecutive terms from 2008-2014, Head of Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Unit from (2006-2008).
Old students of St. Thomas Aquinas have congratulated the new Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Professor Abednego Okoe Feehi Amartey. The alumni of Aquinas said, it was an honour to see one of their own elevated to the position of a VC.
Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, the acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), was on Thursday inducted into office as the Second Vice Chancellor and eighth Executive Head of the school.
Prof Amartey took over from Prof Joshua Alabi, who retired after completing his second four year tenure as the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the UPSA.
The Chancellor of the UPSA, Drolor Bosso Adamtey I, administered the oath of office to Prof. Amartey.
