UPSA Cuts Sod for Gh¢ 77m Auditorium Project

A sod-cutting ceremony has been held to mark the commencement of a GH¢77m auditorium project at UPSA.

The ceremony was jointly performed by Prof. Joshua Alabi, Vice-Chancellor of UPSA; Mr. Duan Dezhl, Chairman of Top International Engineering Ghana Limited; and Mr. Kwabena Appiah Gyimah, Group Head, Business Banking of Access Bank.

The ultra-modern auditorium will be due for completion in 30 months. Top International Engineering Ghana Limited, a Chinese Construction firm is undertaking the project, and it is being funded by Access Bank.

According to Mr. David Tetteh of Phase II Consultants who are the project managers, the auditorium will have a seating capacity of 3,000. It will also have a two-level underground car park, conference facilities and offices for seminars and training programmes as well as a students’ centre.

Prof. Alabi said the commemorative event marked the construction of another massive development project at UPSA.

He indicated that the auditorium would be beneficial to both the academic community and the general public. Prof. Alabi also urged the contractor to expedite work on the project to ensure its timely completion.

Responding to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Dezhl assured that the project would be handed over on time.

UPSA 8th Congregation

It is announced for the information of all 2016 Graduands of the University of
Professional Studies, Accra and the general public that the 8th Congregation of the
University to award degree and diploma certificates to persons who successfully
completed their programmes of study in 2015/2016 academic year will be held as
Date: Saturday, 30th July, 2016
Time: 8.00 a.m.
Venue: Forecourt of Central Administration Block, UPSA

The 8 Congregation will involve:
I. Conferment of honorary doctorate degree.
ii. The following school and faculties will be presenting their graduating students:

  • School of Graduate Studies
  • Faculty of Accounting and Finance
  • Faculty of Management Studies
  • Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies


Registration for the Congregation:
Students who successfully completed their programmes of study in May 2016 and wish
to be presented at the Congregation are requested to follow the procedure below to
register for the ceremony:
(I) Pay the graduation fee at any branch of Access Bank Ltd and log on to to disburse the payment.
(ii) Follow the link to complete the process of registration
(iii) Present the “interpay disbursement print-out” and proof of registration to Room 7,
Academic Affairs Directorate for validation.

Graduation Fee:
All Graduands are required to pay a non-refundable fee of GH¢280.00 to cover cost of
Congregation brochure, printing of certificate, hiring of academic gown and
administrative charges.

Closing Date for Registration:
Thursday, 28th July, 2016. No late registration will be entertained after this date.

List of Graduands: Available on all University's notice boards and website

Collection and Return of the Academic Gown:
Use your proof of registration and the interpay disbursement print-out to collect the
gown from the UPSA Stores starting from Tuesday, 26th July, 2016.
Deadline for the collection of the gown is Friday, 29th July, 2016 at 5.00 p.m.
Graduands are requested to return the academic gowns latest by Wednesday, 3rd
August, 2016
. Failure to do so will attract a penalty of GH¢50.00 per day.

Rehearsal: Compulsory rehearsal will be held for those to be presented at the
Forecourt of the University on Friday, 29th July, 2016 at 3.00 p.m.

Those to be presented will be expected to be seated at the Forecourt by 7.30 a.m.
on Saturday, 30th July, 2016 in the appropriate academic gown worn preferably over
suit/jacket with UPSA neck tie or UPSA scarf in the case of ladies.

Note: Graduands are to note that those who fail to attend the ceremony will equally be
required to pay the same amount before their certificates are released to them.
